We recently tested Local Viking as a potential option for our clients. While the marketing website makes everything feel nice, clean, and easy to use; the reality is far different. Upon signing up for Local Viking your are sent login credentials for a different system called “Local Brand Manager”. This appears to be the actual tool system. Local Brand Manager has a poor UI which makes it hard to navigate and get things set up. The disconnect between the brands is odd and confusing, but not the worst part. We tested the GeoGrid rank tracker and found it to be fairly inaccurate compared to the actual rankings we could see at various pin points. We wanted to test the Local Viking GMP/GBP Rank Tracking tool but were unable to find it in our account. Finally, it appears all GeoGrid ranking reports are publicly visible and indexable by search engines. While the reported features of Local Viking and the price are attractive, our experience is that the tool suite does not live up to its claims and the two completely separate brands makes it all the more confusing.
