History

The Bing search engine is deeply rooted in Microsoft’s attempts at building a search engine that go back as far as 1998, the same year Google was developed. After MSN Search Microsoft released Live search which was renamed Bing in June of 2009. While Microsoft’s ambitions started during an era where there were dozens of meta search engines and they were simply one in a large group. Now though Bing isn’t the top search engine in the USA or the World, it often enjoys a second place ranking after Google and powers search on the Yahoo! website.
